Harry Potter and The Cursed Child Parts 1 and 2 book review

The eighth story. Nineteen years later.

It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t my easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband, and a father of three school-age children.

While Harry grapples with the past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes darkness comes from unexpected places.

Okay so first things first. This book is a script. I know a lot of people got really annoyed that it wasn’t a book and yes some shops advertised it as a book but JK Rowling herself said it was a script. And even though it is a script you kinda forget that you’re reading one.

Its really really good!

I know its not actually written by JK Rowling but Jack Thorne has dome a really good job of writing is play.

Harry sometimes didn’t sound how you imagined Harry would as he got older and he was quite strict on Albus and they really didn’t see eye to eye on some things but it was still good! And remember at the end of Deathly Hallows and the movie when Albus wonders what house he’ll be in and worries that he’ll be in Slythrin? Well we find out exactly what house he is in 🙂 no spoilers from me though!

I loved the friendship between Albus and Scorpius Malfoy. It was great to see that the past between their parents didn’t stop them from being friends and damn Scorpios is such a geek! So many people shipped them together and I can see why but Scorpius is a little bit I’m love with Rose Granger Weasley.

I don’t want to ruin the plot of the play by saying what happens and the big thing that comes about and the death we have to read about again but it was just so fun!

It was like being back at Hogwarts, even if JK Rowling didn’t officially write of but the magic was still alive. It did jump a lot but I suppose in the play it would transition a lot better but honestly after a while I forgot I was reading a script. I would love to see the stage show but its booked out for the next two years so maybe I won’t! At and its expensive!

But seriously, don’t let the script put you off. Just sit back and relax and imagine jet setting off to Hogwarts again and being in the place that made you fall in love with magic!

5 out of 5 stars
