Gah I’ve been at work for a while so I haven’t got time to doing these two book reviews, let alone do any reading!
So here we go, my kitten Merlin is asleep, I have the day off work and I have a few hours to myself before I go meet a friend. So yay!
A lot can change I’m a year.
As the daughter of a global superstar and the lead singer in one of the newest bands in LA, Jessie Jefferson’s life is preeeetty interesting. Especially now she’s seeing her gorgeous, guitar playing bandmate in secret…
But its not all gigs and glamour. Even in a high school full of celebrities, Jessie’s finding the rock star lifestyle isn’t all its cracked up to be.
Is Jessie finally ready to be a Jefferson? Or is the spotlight proving too much for this wild child?
I do enjoy these books and I still haven’t read her Johnny Jefferson books but seeing as there was a character in there that’s probably from those books I should read them.
Its been a year since the last book and it starts with Jessie waking up on her 16th birthday, but there is still a sadness to it as that’s the day her mum also died. Her dad has organised a day out with the family, quiely keeping secret that her friends and step dad Stu are going to meet them there.
But Jessie isn’t in the mood for celebrating and everything gets on top of her and she leaves her own birthday party.
Its not all bad though, Jessie is seeing her super hot bandmate Jack in secret so some hot and heavy make put sessions aren’t all that bad!
But then Jessie has to stat school which is full of LA’s hottest and brightest young celebrities and she finds herself in the middle of the IT girl group who are in every celebrity magazines and are featuted on every social media outlet.
She becomes friends with a girl named Sienna, and although Jack’s sister Agnes is and always will be her bes friend, its nice to have someone else to hang around with, that is until Johnny finds out that Sienna’s sister is his ex girlfriend, Dana and asks Jessie to stay away from her.
Thats when everything goes wrong. Johnny is due to go on a world tour but Meg wants to go with him but doesn’t want to leave Jessie on her own, Jessie’s ex Tom wants to get back together with her and Dana is out for revenge. And what better way than to get it on Johnny’s daughter? Then there’s the fact that Jack’s ex Eve is back and is still in to him!
Can Jessie ground herself in this big world of celebrities and drama? Or is it all going to come crashing down around her?
This book had a lot more drama then the other two books but like the other two books it was just as addictive. I literally couldn’t put it down. I started it when my holiday was nearing the end and I’d finished it on the day I returned home. I don’t know what it is about the books that make them so addicting!
Everything was full on in this book. Jessie has been thrust into this world from the first book but its in this one that it all becomes serious.
This is why I need to read the Johnny Jefferson books as the character in is one Dana is featured a lot in Johnny’s past. It was touched upon in the book as to who she was buy I didn’t know enough of the character to know why she was doing all this but I still enjoyed it! Despite the fact she’s a goddamn psycho!
Jessie turns 16 and has her fair share of drama throughout the book. From thinking Jack doesn’t want to be with her because of the relationship that’s still a secret, to still bonding with her ex Tom and giving him a little bit of false hope. Okay so touching on that bit, she does still care for Tom which I can understand but she doesn’t help matters by calling him to talk to him telling him things that she hasn’t told Jack, getting upset about Tom sleeping with his ex,hugging him and being all close to him yet when he goes to kiss her she pulls away and tells him she wants Jack. I know she’s young but she did kinda play him along a bit. But things with Jack do get stronger and a little hot and heavy 😉
Jack is still hot and still a rock boy but he’s different in this book. He’s growing up,he’s realising that he has real feelings for Jessie and he isn’t his play boy self. He does want the relationship a secret which does make you think why? But when you think about his past and the time he dated Eve and the band almost breaking up because of it its a little understandable. But you do see how his feelings throughout the book get stronger for Jessie. And its sweet *awwwwww*
The IT crowd she gets involved in are all about what’s hot and not. They don’t invite Agnes to things because she’s not ‘hot’ right now but they seem really shallow in a way. Sienna is nice though and seems to like Jessie but with her half sister being Dana, I kinda think she pushed Jessie into talking to her and hanging out with her. Even though Dana was using her too.
Johnny, Meg and the boys, Phoenix and Barney, are just as cute as always even though things do get on top of Meg and Johnny because of all thats going on but they are as strong as ever.
Overall the book was really addictive and really good. I enjoyed all of it and I hope Paige does another Jessie book, even though the ending of All About The Hype kinda made of seem like there wasn’t going to be another one. I do hope there is though! Or Paige writes some more YA books. I don’t tend to enjoy chick lit YA books but these ones I do!
5 out of 5 stars
