Shatter Me,Unravel Me and Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi

Shatter Me

I have a curse.

I have a gift.

I’m a monster.

I’m more than human.

My touch is lethal.

My touch is power.

I am their weapon.

I will fight back.

No one knows why Juliette’s touch is fatal, but The Reestablishment has plans for her. Plans to use her a weapon. But Juliette has plans of her own. After a lifetime without freedom, she’s finally discovering a strength to fight back for the very first time – and to find a future with the one boy she thought she’d lost forever.

The book started in a mental institution with a girl who counted minutes and seconds and was isolated from the rest of them. Until she one days gets a new roommate and her life suddenly changes.

She knows this boy, she went to school with this boy, the only boy who showed her kindness when the rest of them turned away from her. All because her touch can kill.

Just when she thinks she’s safe, she stolen away in the night, along with Adam and is held somewhere and is told she’s to be a weapon. A weapon to help the Reestablishment gain power. A weapon to destroy their enemies.

The leader is Warner, the beautiful boy who seems to be obsessed with Juliette. He’s been studying her for months and has fallen in love with this girl on the pages he’s read about and when he sees her in the flesh that love intensifies.

But Juliette is in love with Adam and Adam in love with Juliette. And he can touch her without dying.

Together they plan to escape Warner and live a life together.

But nothing goes to plan especially when, in their attempted escape, Warner touches Juliette’s bare skin and realises he can touch her too…

While on the run, a solider in Warner’s army finds them and tells them he knows a safe place. A place where Juliette, Adam and Adam’s brother James can be safe. But do they trust Kenji?

When Adam is injured however they have nothing to do but trust him as he needs help and for the first time in her life Juliette feels safe and she finds out that her touch is a gift rather than a curse…

Juliette has been in the mental institute for 2 years. Locked away from the world outside and not knowing what’s happening. She’s been in and out of detention centres and psychiatric hospitals for most of her life, abandoned by her parents to die, all because she can’t touch someone without killing them and the fact she accidently killed a little boy when she was trying to help him.

All she knows is numbers, the numbers of hours, minutes and seconds she’s spent inside this prison. She’s alone and frightened but throughout the book she learns that her powers aren’t a curse, that in fact they are a gift.

Adam is the boy who gets to stay with Juliette in the prison she was in. He’s known her since they were children and loved her since then too. He’s one of the only people who can touch her and he wants to have a life with her away from all of this. Throughout the book Adam is desperate to keep Juliette safe and comforts her when everything goes wrong. But is there a reason why he can touch her?

Warner… I can go Oh Warner now because I’ve read the books but before that is was unknown what he was. Was he good or bad? Was he trying to use her as a weapon or save her? Does he actually love her or is he just infatuated with the person she is? He’s a complex character and even though he does things wrong in the first book he’s a character you can’t wait to read more about because you know there’s more to him than meets the eye.

Hooked from the very first sentence and destined to fall in love with the world Tahereh created. The writing was beautiful. Flowing like some sort of epic poem. The words used to describe things were beautiful and the way she wrote the kissing scenes… OH BLOODY HELL IT WAS SO GOOD!

Unravel Me

Our lips touch

and I know I’m going to split at the seams. He kisses me softly the strongly like he’s lost me and he’s found me and I’m slipping away and he’s never going to let me go.

Juliette has escaped from The Reestablishment. Now she’s free from their plan to use her as a weapon, and free to love Adam. But Juliette will never be free from her lethal touch. Or from Warner, who wants Juliette more than she ever thought possible. Haunted by her past and terrified of her future, Juliette knows that she will have to make some life-changing choices. Choices that may involve choosing between her heart – and Adam’s life.

Juliette, Adam and James are at Omega Point with Kenji and have been told that everyone there has special gifts. Gifts that make them move things with their minds or make them super stretchy or make them invisible. Everyone here has a gift and Juliette starts to learn more about why she has this lethal touch.

Adam and Juliette are trying to find time to be alone but are finding it hard. They have no time for themselves and are always out training or being researched on. When Juliette finds out that Adam has a power that can basically cancel hers out there is hope that they can be together. Until one day Adam’s gift is compromised slightly and Juliette inadvertently hurts him. From then, Juliette vows to stay away from him, to never hurt him again but it’s harder than it seems.

Juliette finds out she has another gift along with her lethal touch. She has super strength, one that can start earthquakes and rip worlds apart. When angry it does serious damage and she’s tasked with training with Kenji, so he can help her harness the power.

On a mission to the outside to get supplies and food, Juliette finds Warner and sees a side of him she’s never seen before. When Warner’s father realises that Warner let Juliette go, he hatches a plan to get her back but instead Juliette cripples him and they take Warner hostage.

While Warner is being help hostage at Omega Point, Juliette spends time with him and realises that there is more to this guy than meets the eye. He’s sensitive and loving and not as evil as they make him out to be. And he has a gift. He can absorb powers and use them himself, which is why he can touch Juiliette as their powers cancel each others out.

In a battle between Omega Point and The Reestablishment, Juliette gets shot and Omega Point gets obliterated. Will she live and if she does will she see her friends ever again?

Jesus this was just as good as the first book. This one was more about the gifts they have and Juliette learning the truth about herself and other things. She learns that her powers can be harnessed, she makes friends, is willing to fight for the others and overall is determined that no one will get hurt by her ever again. Especially when she’s given a new suit and gloves which means she can touch people without killing them

Throughout the book Juliette learns that Warner isn’t as horrible and psychotic as everyone makes him out to be. She spends time with him and learns things about him that no one else knows and you can see her falling for him, even though she hates that fact that she is. They have a little make out scene which is epically hot but.. Well.. You’ll have to read to find out what happens.

Everything about his book was just as mesmerizing and hooking as the first book and I couldn’t wait to read more about Juliette and everyone once the book ended and I started book three!

Ignite Me

The fate of Omega Point is unknown.

Everyone Juliette has ever cared about could be dead. Juliette may be the only one standing in The Reestablishment’s way. But to take them down, Juliette will need the help of the one person she never thought she could trust: Warner. And as they work together to defeat their mutual enemy, Juliette will discover everything she thought she knew- about Warner, her abilities and Adam- was wrong.

Juliette has survived being shot and is living with Warner until she gets better.

Omega Point has been destroyed and she has no idea what’s happened to all her friends.

Warner lets her go out so she can see the crumbled building of Omega Point and while there she gets reunited with Kenji, who tires to kill Warner but Warner steals his power and makes himself invisible so he can escape.

Kenji takes Juliette back to Adam’s old house and there she finds that there are a few people left from Omega Point who are still alive and she tells them everything that happened to her and how they can trust Warner in helping them.

Adam is angry with Juliette. He thinks she’s moved on from him and is in a relationship with Warner. Adam is angry and from how he was in book 1 until now you kinda go off him. He’s quite horrible and says vile things to her which sends her running to Warner.

Warner agrees to let Kenji and the others stay at The Reestablishment headquarters, everyone goes, except Adam and James. Once there they are all training to fight, all of them are ready to fight back and take down The Reestablishment by killing the leader, Anderson.

While everyone is training Juliette gets more and more closer to Warner, despite the fact Juliette can’t admit to her feelings. Warner breaks down and tells her that she’s killing him and they end up being distant to each other.

While outside with Kenji, Juliette knows something is wrong and when she finds Warner in a mess she realises she loves him.

Juliette manages to turn her powers off so she can touch people without them being killed. When that happens she realises she can be with whoever she wants and goes to tell Warner she loves him.

But there’s a battle coming and Juliette still needs to take down The Reestablishment and kill Anderson but is she ready for all of this? And will she lose anyone along the way?

What an epic ending to the trilogy. OMG it was everything.

In this book I didn’t like Adam at all. He was so angry and so horrible to everyone. Yeah I understand he was hurt about Juliette but dude come on. There’s a way to get over someone and being horrible is not the way to go about. I liked him in the first book but in the second he was too obsessed with her and in the third, yeah horrible.

Warner was everything in this book and I have a new book boyfriend in him. Its amazing how you take people for face value before you actually get to meet them. Warner was always the ‘bad guy’ throughout the books but he wasn’t. He had a horrible life and a horrible upbringing and in a way he just wanted to be loved. I’m so so so so *SPOILER ALERT* Juliette chose him!

Kenji is my best friend. I loved that boy. He was sarcastic and funny and had feelings and looked out for Juliette when people weren’t quite sure about her. He was everything you want in a BFF.

And Juliette. Juliette grew as a person in this book. She became strong and brave. She became a leader and it was so great to see how she grew throughout the books. She was a great female lead.

And like the other books, Tahereh knew how to get my feels going. Especially with Warner… Good God woman were you trying to kill me?

I wasn’t ready to let the characters go when I finished the last page and I wanted more of them. Just a little One Year Later or something. I feel lost without these characters.

I hope Tahereh writes another trilogy because I loved her writing style.

You won’t be disappointed when you read these books, I know some people might not get on with the writing style but if you like poetic things and having words scratched out and sentences flowing into one epic prose then this book is for you.
