Roxy’s loved Reece Anders since she was fifteen, so when the straitlaced cop finally surrendered to a steamy encounter years later, Roxy hoped he’d fall for her, too. He didn’t. Or that’s what she’s always believed. But then Reece storms back into her life when the man who injured her childhood friend is out of prison and wanting to make amends-something Roxy cannot do.
The last thing she wants is to go there with Reece again, but he’s determined to prove to her that he’s exactly what she needs. Especially when a sick creep starts messing with her. But what’s more dangerous to Roxy-a psycho after her or the past that refuses to let go allow her to open up her heart again?
Roxy is in love with Reece. That much is obvious and so is her dislike of him. They had a steamy encounter a few years ago but Reece didn’t fall in love with her. In fact he regrets that night.
So when Reece comes back into her life he wants to talk about that night. But there’s something Roxy isn’t telling him and what Reece hates more than anything is lies.
Roxt knows she should tell Reece the truth but when the night ends up with them sleeping together… it just gets more complicated.
Also the gut who seriously injured her best friend is back out of prison and is wanting to make amends with both her and her BFF Charlie. But Roxy can’t let go of the past.
Then there’s the fact that Roxy believes her house is haunted because things are happening there that hasn’t done. And when she wakes up to find a picture of herself fast asleep in her phone she knows she needs to call the police.
But things escalate and so does her relationship with Reece and before she knows it she’s opening up her heart and soul to him.
And of course there’s still that issue of the psycho whose stalking her and when she finds the creepy secret staircase behind her wardrobe Roxy follows it, which ultimately leads her into danger … but will she be okay? And wi Reece save her time?
OMGEEEEEEEEE JLA did it again with this book.
This woman never fails to get me hooked into a story!
We saw Roxy and Reece in the last book about Calla and Jax and I just couldn’t wait for them to have their own story because I needed to know what their deal was.
Roxy is hilarious. She gets sweet and snarky down to a t. She’s fun and lovable but could cut you down with her sharp wit. She loves her best friend Charlie who was seriously injured and visits him every Friday at the home, even though it breaks her heart that he doesn’t recognise her.
Even though she’s dated a lot her one love of her life is Reece. The sexy, angry and snarky cop. Roxy has always believed that Reece doesn’t feel that way about her but she soon learns that those feelings are reciprocated.
Roxy doesn’t open up and is fearful of losing people she cares about and when things with Reece get more and more heated she pulls away.
Reece…. oh hot damn REECE! Just like Cam, Jase and Jax, Reece is HOT! He knows what he wants and he’s going to get it. He’s had feelings for Roxy for a while and is gutted that he can’t remember their night together a few years ago and he wants to rectify that soon.
Reece is protective of Roxy and can’t stand lies so when he learns the truth of what actually happened that night a few years ago… he does kinda loose it.
He wants Roxy but she has her own demons and so does he and together they know that they can heal their past wounds. But Roxy just has to let him in.
We see all our old favourites in this book too. Avery and Cam, Jase and Teresa, Jax and Calla. We briefly see Ollie and Brit and we get to see Jacob from book 1 with his super hot boyfriend.
I love how these books all relate to each other and how they link. Friendships get tightened more and this is the last time that they’ll all be together because of graduation. *sobs*
Just like the other books this one was swoon-worthy, full of snark and heat. It had heart breaking moments aswell as heated moments. Everything about this book was brilliant and this time it had a psycho twist.
It had the heartbreaking pasts like the others did andthis, unlike the others, this one had the love that was deep set from childhood. They’ve known each other for a long time and they didn’t have to get to knoe each other. They just had to tell the truth and open up.
Again this was another brilliant book from JLA. I honestly can’t find any fault with her books haha and its like I need too find something but I can’t!
No wonder she’s in my top 5 favourite authors!
5 out of 5 stars
