White Hot Kiss

One kiss could be the last.

Seventeen-year-old Layla just wants to be normal. But with a kiss that kills anything with a soul, she’s anything but normal. Half demon, half gargoyle, Layla has abilities no one else possesses.

Raised among the Wardens—a race of gargoyles tasked with hunting demons and keeping humanity safe—Layla tries to fit in, but that means hiding her own dark side from those she loves the most. Especially Zayne, the swoon-worthy, incredibly gorgeous and completely off-limits Warden she’s crushed on since forever.

Then she meets Roth—a tattooed, sinfully hot demon who claims to know all her secrets. Layla knows she should stay away, but she’s not sure she wants to—especially when that whole no-kissing thing isn’t an issue, considering Roth has no soul.

But when Layla discovers she’s the reason for the violent demon uprising, trusting Roth could not only ruin her chances with Zayne… it could brand her a traitor to her family. Worse yet, it could become a one-way ticket to the end of the world.

Stone Cold Touch

Layla Shaw is trying to pick up the pieces of her shattered life—no easy task for a seventeen-year-old who’s pretty sure things can’t get worse. Her impossibly gorgeous best friend, Zayne, is forever off-limits thanks to the mysterious powers of her soul-stealing kiss. The Warden clan that has always protected her is suddenly keeping dangerous secrets. And she can barely think about Roth, the wickedly hot demon prince who understood her in ways no one else could.

But sometimes rock bottom is only the beginning. Because suddenly Layla’s powers begin to evolve, and she’s offered a tantalizing taste of what has always been forbidden. Then, when she least expects it, Roth returns, bringing news that could change her world forever. She’s finally getting what she always wanted, but with hell literally breaking loose and the body count adding up, the price may be higher than Layla is willing to pay…

Jennifer L. Armentrout never fails when bringing us a swoony boys …and in this book… well JLA gave us two swoony boys… Yes you heard correct… TWO!

We’ve got Zayne and Roth!
White Hot Kiss

Layla, our female MC, is half-warden, half-demon. She was raised by the Wardens and, because of that, she feels insecure around them. She may be half-warden, but she still has the urges from her half demon side, in fact the Wardens themselves seem to be beginning to trust her less and less. Layla’s ability is to “tag” demons. This helps the Wardens brilliantly as they hunt at night and they find it easier to spot the demons which they are about to kill. This makes Layla feel somewhat ‘valuable’ to the Wardens. She feel like she has a purpose with them.

Then there’s her half-demon side, her ability with this however comes in the form of being able to suck the soul right out of someone… Literally their soul. And because of the whole soul-sucking thing, she’ll never be able to be with any boy… Or the one she really wants; her Best Friend Zayne.

But then of course in true JLA fashion that all changes when she meets Roth.

Roth is a (sexy, mouth-wateringly HOT) demon, he has no soul, so his lips are free to do as much kissing as she wants with him… which she does and Roth is more than willing.

What happens next is a series of events… One that leads Layla stuck in the middle of a warden and demon love interest, finding out who her real mother is, almost getting killed by a crazy man and of course almost being sacrificed by another Demon who wants to raise her mother back to health and have, literally, hell break loose…

The chemistry between Layla and Roth was so… I have no words… seriously their chemistry was THROUGH THE ROOF! I loved them together. I loved Roth from the first moment he was introduced in this book and I loved him throughout it all. Even after the dramatic ending I still wanted Roth. She better be with him at the end of this trilogy because I seriously SHIP them… They are my OTP!

And OMG the things that came out of his mouth!! He had me flushing several times throughout this book because he was just too damn sexy to handle… AND OMG THE ONE SCENE WITH HIM AND LAYLA WHEN HE…. I CAN’T! (Read it to find out what I’m going on about haha)

I could see my other JLA book boyfriend Daemon in Roth. They shared the same characteristics… Big Ego, Snarky Comments, Total Bad Ass. Although Daemon had his soft spots and wasn’t actually all that bad but Roth is… he is a demon after all so he has a reason to be and believe me who doesn’t love a bad boy 😉 And then there’s Zayne… I wasn’t all that in love with him in this book… Maybe because I had Roth blinkers on but… Zayne is hot, believe me he’s hot, but… I don’t know. Roth seemed to get Layla. Whereas Zayne, whose known her all her life still didn’t know her as well. Roth encouraged her to be herself. Zayne tried to get her to hide it… Maybe in the second book we’ll get to see Zayne more but this book was all Roth 😉

Stone Cold Touch

From the title I really should have known this book was going to focus around Zayne and Layla but honestly… I wanted more sexy moments with Roth! I felt cheated!

This one started after the dramatic ending to White Hot Kiss…

Roth is gone and Zayne is Layla’s rock. The only thing she has left of Roth is Bambi (the demonic tattoo that Roth keeps on his body… he has others too!)

Bambi has formed an attachment to Layla and she’s not going anywhere, in fact she’s protecting her because Roth is no longer there. Zayne however is and it’s not long before Zayne starts making his move on Layla. He makes it known that he wants her; that he’s always wanted her and when a chance encounter comes for him to get all up close and personal with her, he takes it.

With Layla getting exactly what she wanted from Zayne, love, acceptance, it’s not long before Roth is a distant memory…

And then he comes back.

Cue some sniping from both him and Zayne (Roth wins on the whole ‘rile Zayne up’ thing he has going on) Although Roth makes it clear to Layla that what happened between them meant nothing, that those parting words he said to her meant nothing and she was just a bit of fun to pass away the boredom, she takes it to heart and starts a relationship with Zayne.

Layla still doesn’t know the exact reason as to why she can kiss Zayne now but when she gives Bambi back to Roth and then Zayne leans in for a kiss and she… well… There’s a reason why Bambi was on her body!

When the warden’s think that she tried to Zayne’s soul on purpose they form an attack on her by locking her up in a cell and… kind of torturing her.

Cue one very helpful warden and Roth and his demon friends and Layla is back in Roth’s arms. But she’s dying and in order to live she needs to take a soul… or does she?

Zayne in this book… Okay so he waited until Roth was out of the picture to make his move and although he’s hot and they do have some pretty fan-your-flushing-face kind of scenes I still don’t think he’s the one for Layla. He loves her, yeah, but the fact that he waited until now to do something annoyed me. His known how he’s always felt for her so why didn’t he do something about it sooner? Why wait until Roth was gone? I like Zayne but no… he doesn’t really let Layla be herself. He wants to shield her and you can tell that Layla wants to be free. As much as she loves Zayne I had a sense that it wasn’t really what she thought it would be. And you know, it didn’t stop her running off with Roth a few times.

Roth… Oh my Roth! Feels for him. He loves her, he loved her from the first book you can tell and the way he acted and told her that she meant nothing to him, broke me. You could tell that there was a reason why though… And he had to watch her with Zayne but there were times when you could see that Layla was more comfortable with Roth, that although she could have punched him at times, she liked the thrill of being with him. And at the end when Roth told her…. It was more emotional than when Zayne told her! I’m a Roth girl… I always will be.

And. That. Ending….

I need the next book now!!!
