Opposition by Jennifer L Armentrout book review

Katy knows the world changed the night the Luxen came.

She can’t believe Daemon welcomed his race or stood by as his kind threatened to obliterate every last human and hybrid on Earth. But the lines between good and bad have blurred, and love has become an emotion that could destroy her—could destroy them all.

Daemon will do anything to save those he loves, even if it means betrayal.

They must team with an unlikely enemy if there is any chance of surviving the invasion. But when it quickly becomes impossible to tell friend from foe, and the world is crumbling around them, they may lose everything— even what they cherish most—to ensure the survival of their friends…and mankind.

War has come to Earth. And no matter the outcome, the future will never be the same for those left standing.

This book followed the dramatic ending of Origin, where the Luxen came down to earth and Daemon, Dawson and Dee all turned into their true selves and followed their Luxen family.

Katy, Archer, Beth and Luc are in hiding, but Katy hasn’t given up on Daemon. Despite what Archer is telling her. Then she finds out that Beth is pregnant and she’s really not doing well so her and Archer decide to go to the store to get some vitimins for her…

And that’s where it all goes wrong.

Luxen swarm the store and Katy watches as they destroy humankind. But just as she’s leaving, Katy senses Daemon and runs back to find him. She’s blasted by power and ends up back in the Luxen compound…

Meanwhile Daemon is trying his hardest to not think about Katy, won’t even say her name because he knows they’ll pick up on his weakness; His undying love for her.

But then she’s in the compound and its Dawson who blasted her so he goes to see her, to heal her and to just geuinely be in her company. But he knows that when she wakes up he’ll have to act like the others and in the process he could end up breaking Katy’s heart.

He has another bigger problem aswell; his sister Dee. She is well and truely under the Luxen’s thumb, believing in their ideals and basically out to destroy humankind. Unlike Dawson and Daemon who’ve realised that their love for their hybrid counterparts run deeper than there loyalty to the Luxen so they cannot be controlled.

When Katy wakes up, its Dee she sees first and she’s totally shocked by the change in her. Gone is her best friend. Dee threatens to kill Katy a couple of times, before leading her down to the Luxen leader.

Where Daemon is.

And a girl…

Whose all over him and they are flirting.

But when another Luxen touches Katy, Daemon loses it and smashes him through a wall. Dameon then convinces the others that he only wants to keep Katy alive because she’s good in bed.

The female luxen all over Daemon takes Katy away to another room and when Daemon gets there he finds the room a mess and the pair of them about to fight… again.

Daemon gets rid of the female Luxen, leaving him alone with Katy where he finally breaks down and relishes in her.

Katy soon realises that Daemon was pretending and that their love is still strong. They have to get out of here however but Daemon is reluctant to leave his sister.

They do leave, ending up with Nancy Husher back in Area 51 again and they start to plan what to do next.

Daemon and Katy find out something about themselves, they end up making a pact with the arum to end the Luxen who are down here on earth, Katy manages to get through to Dee and breaks the hold and they end up back in Katy’s house, where she finds out her mother has been taken over by a Luxen…

Then comes the fight and GOD ITS BRILLIANT haha.

I won’t give away all of it but lets just say its the perfect ending to the Lux Series.

Despite the fact I nearly had a mental breakdown several times during this book I seriosuly couldn’t have loved it more. The scenes between Daemon and Katy were perfect, the love they had for each other seemed to grow stronger and stronger and I loved how well they worked as a team, how they got each other through the hard parts of the ordeal.

When Katy’s mom had been taken over and Daemon had to kill her… Katy’s heartbreak killed me. It was so raw and real and I was going through all the motions with her.

And Daemon.

Seriously is it possible to love him more?!

Lets just get a few Daemon quotes…

“Kat.” He uttered my name like it was some kind of prayer, and then he pressed a kiss against the skin behind my ear. “I broke every rule of my kind to heal you and keep you with me. I … burned down an entire city to keep you safe. I’ve killed for you. Did you think I’d forget what you mean to me? That anything in this world— in any world— would be stronger than my love for you?”

“I wanted Kat out. Every cell of my being demanded that I protect her, even though I knew she was hella capable of doing so herself, but I wanted her far away from here. Hell, I’d keep her in Bubble Wrap if it weren’t so damn creepy and also inconvenient, considering I had a terrible habit of obsessively popping the damn things until not a single bubble was left.”

In all seriosuness I loved this book. I wanted to marry it that’s how much I loved it.

Katy and Daemon are one of my favourite book couples and shows us nerd girls that we can get a super hot guy to love us. hehe

Katy grew into an amazing woman in this book. She had alot of stuff to go through despite being young and she handled it as best as she could. Even if she did nearly bring the house down. Her revealtions about things were an eye opener and I loved seeing Daemon through her eyes.

Ultimately I loved seeing Katy through Daemon’s eyes. The guy grew up alot in this too and he knew, that whatever happened, his love for Katy would never change. It was a fixed point in his life.

And I loved the duel POV’s and how they coped with certain things and how they saw things.

And of course the kinky side of Daemon was still their 😉

I can’t express enough how much I LOVE this series and how much I love these characters. I have taken each of them into my heart and its a series that I will pick up whenever I want to.

I can wholeheartedly say that I have loved every single second I’ve spend with Daemon, Katy and the rest of the cast of characters. It’s always bittersweet to say goodbye to a much loved series, especially one that will forever hold a piece of my heart.

Jennifer is an amazing author and I love how much she makes these characters of hers human, like they are sat in the room with you. They’ve become my friends and even though it was hard to let go I did.

The epilogue in the book was perfect and Dawson and Beth’s baby was soooooooo cute!

Everyone of them got an ending they deserved.

Silver Shadows by Richelle Mead book review

I’m so behind again!

Here’s the first review…

Sydney Sage is an Alchemist, one of a group of humans who dabble in magic and serve to bridge the worlds of humans and vampires. They protect vampire secrets—and human lives.

In The Fiery Heart, Sydney risked everything to follow her gut, walking a dangerous line to keep her feelings hidden from the Alchemists.

Now in the aftermath of an event that ripped their world apart, Sydney and Adrian struggle to pick up the pieces and find their way back to each other. But first, they have to survive.

For Sydney, trapped and surrounded by adversaries, life becomes a daily struggle to hold on to her identity and the memories of those she loves. Meanwhile, Adrian clings to hope in the face of those who tell him Sydney is a lost cause, but the battle proves daunting as old demons and new temptations begin to seize hold of him. . . .

Their worst fears now a chilling reality, Sydney and Adrian face their darkest hour in this heart-pounding fifth installment in the New York Times bestselling Bloodlines series, where all bets are off.

This book continues 3-4 months after The Fiery Heart ended and Sydney was kidnapped by the evil Alchemists. Adrian is in pain… Like loads of it and he’s drinking constantly, going to parties, basically drowning himself in his misery because he can’t find Sydney.

Seeing as Jill is Spirit Bound to Adrian, everything he experiences, she experiences and so she ends up calling his mother to intervene on his ways.

So he ends up at court and he be friends Nina (Remember her from The Fiery Heart?) and well Nina is pretty much in love with Adrian (Duh who wouldn’t be!?) and she ends up making a pass at him at a very vulnerable moment.

He tries to find Sydney in her dreams but its impossible and even with Marcus’ help nothing seems to working. Adrian, at this point, has officially lost her. The centre didn’t hold.

And then there’s Sydney herself, stuck in the Rehabilitation centre for Alchemists gone bad. She’s been in this confinemnt room for 3 months and through sheer will she manages to get out of her little room and into a group of other Alchemists gone bad, who ultimately shun her for what she’s done.

Sydney acts out sometimes and ends up being tortured and opressed until she starts to believe that she’ll never get out of that place. Sydney then uses the magic she was taught by Mrs. Terwilliger to good use, managing to use a substance to stop other Alchemists turning into zombies after they’ve had their Lily tattoo’s re inked, making herself invisible so she can see where the exit points are in the place and cutting of the gas supply where they are drugging them to sleep.

With the gas off Sydney finally makes contact with Adrian via a spirit dream and through that they manage to plan her escape. With the help of Marcus, Sydney’s older sister and the very sad specimen that is now Keith, they manage to find out where Sydney and the others are being kept.

They bust Sydney and the others out, via a little espionage and help from Sydney’s magic and go on the run through Vegas where they run into Alchemists at every corner.

Then Adrian has the idea of claiming santuary at the Court but Sydney knows that they wouldn’t grant that to her, but Adrian has a plan up his sleeve and ????????!! (Haha spoiler!) She with the pair of them now ??????? they find a way to get to Court, but not without one final hurray on top of a Vegas roof where they are waiting for a helicopter and manage to kick some evil Alchemist butt!

Once they get to court, despite some of the obvious objections, they are finally under protection and everything seems well… Until the get a knock on the bedroom door from Rose.

And she’s got some bad news!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand queue a cliffhanger.

Wwhich ultimately prompts this…..

Anyway haha

Sydney really did prove to be a kick ass heroine in this book. Seriosuly. She has come a long way from her first apprearance in VA where you couldn’t really seem to like her that much. Buts since Bloodlines you’ve seen her grow and grow until this amazing book girl who your proud of. She overcame the torture in this book with an iron will and she never let her love for Adrian to die, despite the Alchemists attempts.

And Adrian… The poor dude. The way he spiralled into his drink and depression killed me. I loved Adrian from his first appearance in VA and I hated seeing him like this  but could understand why he had done it. Sydney, his whole life, was gone from him and he had no way of finding her. And even when he saw Sydney naked, with her near starved body from her torture, he still saw the beauty in her and you loved him all the more for it.

And them together… I think they are stronger than Rose and Dimitri and Lissa and Christian! (who all turn up in the book… although Christian doesn’t speak!)

I think Richelle Mead had more fun writing the romance between Sydrian than she did Romitri!

All in all I loved this book so so so so much and now I need the sixth book… NOW!

Another amazing Bloodlines book 🙂

Cursed by Jennifer L Armentrout

The last review! Then I can get on with reading Silver Shadows haha

Dying sucks
…and high school senior Ember McWilliams knows firsthand.

After a fatal car accident, her gifted little sister brought her back. Now anything Ember touches dies. And that, well, really blows.

Ember operates on a no-touch policy with all living things–including boys. When Hayden Cromwell shows up, quoting Oscar Wilde and claiming her curse is a gift, she thinks he’s a crazed cutie. But when he tells her he can help control it, she’s more than interested. There’s just one catch: Ember has to trust Hayden’s adopted father, a man she’s sure has sinister reasons for collecting children whose abilities even weird her out. However, she’s willing to do anything to hold her sister’s hand again. And hell, she’d also like to be able to kiss Hayden. Who wouldn’t?

But when Ember learns the accident that turned her into a freak may not’ve been an accident at all, she’s not sure who to trust. Someone wanted her dead, and the closer she gets to the truth, the closer she is to losing not only her heart, but her life.

For real this time.

There’s a reason why you are one of my favourite authors.

I seriously cannot put my thoughts about this book into words. I just want to scream

When I picked up Cursedin Waterstones I was like a woman possessed. I wanted to start squealing and jumping round like a crazy woman but people already think I am so I thought I’d wait until I got home to do that!

Then after reading Cursed, even though I had a major headache from reading all night I did a weird sort of dance on my bed because the book was AMAZING!

Cursed is definitely 100% different from all her other books but it is just as addictive and brilliant. I think this really shows her versatility as an author and I am convinced that there is no author in this world that is better than she.

Ember is such an amazing character. I  loved her.

I really felt for ember because she can’t touch anything, less she kills them, and all she wants in the world is to able to have someone hold her and love her and to touch her sister without her dying.

Then she gets kidnapped by the Cromwells and while there she’s made to feel the outsider, just like she was at school after she came back from the accident that killed her. While everyone else avoids her there is one person who will do anything to get close to her.

Meet Hayden.

Hot damn where do I begin?

He is just the perfect guy. I another  book boyfriend courtsey of JLA.

He is so sweet and perfect and he is the character every girl wishes was real and that they’d fall in love with her. He’s so adorable. And hot! Very hot! Prepare to drool and swoon and sigh. A LOT! But really what did you expect, all of Jennifer’s lead male characters make you drool and swoon and sigh. I have never in my life read such a hot scene where the characters aren’t even touching.

Hayden is determined to show Ember that her powers are a gift, not a curse but he’s going to have to earn her trust to do that.

He tries teaching her how to harness her powers better, tries telling her that if she lets go of all the bad things she thinks of herself she’ll be able to see that its a gift she’s been given.

But Ember is convinced his family is behind the accident that killed her dad and in some way her.

They know too much, they keep things from her and they look like psychopathic killers. But she trusts Hayden so surely they can’t be that bad?

Hayden and ember do have a fight and Ember is convinced that Hayden hates her and when she sees Hayden cuddling up to Pheobe and her little sister being welcomed into the family, she’s convinced that they’d be better off without her and makes a run for it.

But she gets hurt, shot and Ember is convinced that someone in the family is trying to kill her.

What she doesn’t count on is her new form teacher Mr. Theo. He’s a nice guy, he can connect with her. Surely the guy wants to help her?

Or is there something else that Ember isn’t seeing?

She believes its the Cromwell’s whose hurt her family, but is she on the wrong path?

Seriously though this book…

I couldn’t put it down. Much like the rest of her books this one was addictive and seriosuly the scenes between Hayden and Ember were HOT! Even though they couldn’t touch. How does that happen?

And when she does finally think of her power as a gift rather than a curse… her and Hayden… OMG!

I loved how concerned he was that he was going to hurt Ember with his gifts, despite the fact that she could kill him if they touched! That just showed me how much he loved her, before he even told her.

I know this is a standalone novel but please woman write something else to do with this! The ending was brilliant but I have to know if she manages to to touch him for more than a few minutes and if they finally can do the deed (I’m a perv I know!)

I am never disappointed with any JLA books. She’s an amazing writer, one that manages to hook you from the very first page and makes unforgettable characters. And really really hot book boys! And her female characters are brilliant too. They know their own minds, they won’t get pushed around and they stand up for what they believe in, even if sometimes they have got it wrong (but we forgive them for that, they are human afterall!)

I love Jennifer and I love her books.

This is totally one I would read again!

Just please write a mini novella with Hayden and Ember… PLEASE!?

Just some quotes from the book 😉

“Listen to me, Ember. I couldn’t hurt you. I can’t.” Hayden settled his eyes on me. They were softer than I’d ever seen. “I love you— I’ve loved you since the first time I saw you.”

“His gaze lifted as he leaned in, placing his mouth an inch from mine. The air was sucked right out of the room, and I felt dizzy again. “Ever since I first saw you.” He moved so that his mouth was angled with mine. “And right now I want to so badly it hurts. You have no idea, Em, but I don’t want to hurt you.”
My gaze dropped to his parted lips. What would it be like to feel them against my own? Unable to stop myself, I brought my mouth within a hair’s breadth of his. “I want to kiss you, too.”

“For a brief second, I entertained the idea of ripping off my gloves, rushing down the hall, and jumping on Dustin’s back like a psychotic monkey.”

“I glanced at my reflection and forced a smile. It was broken.  And I also had the hugest zit ever on my temple. Awesome.”

The Forever Song by Julie Kagawa Book Review

the forever song

Vengeance will be hers.

Allison Sekemoto once struggled with the question: human or monster? With the death of her love, Zeke, she has her answer.

Allie will embrace her cold vampire side to hunt down and end Sarren, the psychopathic vampire who murdered Zeke. But the trail is bloody and long, and Sarren has left many surprises for Allie and her companions – her creator Kanin, and her blood brother, Jackal. The trail is leading straight to the one place they must protect at any cost – the last vampire-free zone on Earth, Eden. And Sarren has one final, brutal shock in store for Allie.

In a ruined world where no life is sacred and former allies can turn on you in one heartbeat, Allie will face her darkest days. And if she succeeds, her triumph will be short-lived in the face of surviving forever alone.

The last Blood of Eden book.

Anyway haha

This book was the perfect conclusion to the others.

I loved it.

Following on from the events of book two 😥 it sees Allie, Kanin and Jackal on the hunt for Sarren before he destroys Eden and the world with his new virus.

Allie is coming to terms with loosing Zeke 😥 and is trying hard to not let the monster in her surface but that is easier said than done when the loss of Zeke is still fresh her mind. She does let go of her humanity slowly but she does manage to claw it back when she sees a scene that reminds her of her past.

Jackal is being his normal sarcastic way and is trying everything to wind up Allie. Although he does redeem himself in someways.

Kanin is determined to try and keep Allie ‘human’ but he knows that Zeke was her link to all that and he knows that he is slowly loosing his favourite child.

All of that comes to a head though when they reach Jackal’s old kingdom.

In there they think resides Sarren and Allie is more than content to chop of his head. When an explosion causes Allie to lose sight of Kanin and Jackal she goes on ahead to defeat Sarren… and gets a nasty surprise!

Zeke is alive… but not in the way she thought. He’s been turned against his will and been brainwashed into destroying Allie.

Allie can’t believe that the boy she loves is alive and is reluctant to fight him but she knows she has too in order to save her life.

However Allie does manage to get through to him and he manages to show some sembelance to the old Zeke. Even though he is wracked with guilt over what his done and is determined to face the sun once all of this is over and Sarren is defeated.

Things do turn out for the best though and Zeke realises that Allie has been there for him through everything and grabs hold of the one good thing in his life; her.

Queue some blood taking while having sex (YES YES YES! DO YOU HAV ANY IDEA HOW LONG I HAVE WAITED FOR THEM TO DO IT??!!! haha)

Then eventually comes the final showdown with Sarren but all is not as it seems. Jackal has become infected with the disease, Kanin makes the ultimate sacrifice and Allie and Zeke must facedown Sarren on their own.

I’m not spoiling the ending but it was so bittersweet and beautiful. The feels in this book was all over the place.

“Say you love me, vampire girl,” he whispered, his voice low and husky. “Tell me…that this is forever.”
“I love you,” I said immediately. “And if we have forever, there’s no one else I want to spend it with.”

I loved this book, it was perfect for the series. Full of action and fighting and blood and guts. Rabids in abundance, crazy vampires, a sarcastic blood brother, a lovable Maker and of course the one constant thing in the book… The love between Allie and Zeke.

I think that the whole Vampire Dystopian thing was amazing! Combining two of my favourite genres together Julie managed to make an amazing and un-put-down-able series.

I will miss this series but I’m glad it ended on a good note. One that was full of promises but left you thinking that there was going to be more challenges ahead for them.

Oh and Julie?

Could you maybe write a book on Jackal?

Even though he gets on everyone’s nerves and can switch sides with the flick of your wrist, he is without a doubt brilliant! I want to know what happens to him! I want him to find love. He deserves it.

Brilliant brilliant brilliant

The Vincent Boys and The Vincent Brothers by Abbi Glines book reviews

Lets continue with the review catch up shall we?

So next on the list is:

the vincent boys

Ashton is getting tired of being good, of impressing her parents and playing ideal girlfriend to Sawyer Vincent. Sawyer is perfect, a regular Prince Charming, but when he leaves town for the summer, it’s his cousin Beau who catches Ashton’s eye. Beau is the sexiest guy she’s ever seen, and even though he’s dangerous, Ashton is drawn to him.

Beau loves his cousin like a brother, so the last thing he wants to do is make a move on Sawyer’s girl. Ashton is off-limits, absolutely. That’s why he does his best to keep his distance, even though he’s been in love with her forever. When Ashton wants to rekindle their childhood friendship in Sawyer’s absence, Beau knows he should say no.

Ashton and Beau don’t want to hurt Sawyer. But the more they try to stay away from each other, the more intense their urges become. It’s getting way too hard to resist….

One word:

Beau is just….

Ashton, Beau, and Sawyer were inseparable childhood friends. Beau and Sawyer, “the Vincent boys” are cousins, but its Ashton and Beau who are close.

These two are the town’s little hell-raisers, and Sawyer is the one usually bailing them out of trouble, and encouraging them to mend their ways.

All this changes though when both boys began to notice Ash in a different way. Sawyer is first to make a move, and Ash, thinking Beau isn’t interested in her in that way, accepts him. So they’ve been the “perfect” couple for the last three years. He’s the star quarterback, son of a respectable businessman (Beau’s uncle), and always beside her at church on Sunday.

Ash struggles to be the perfect girlfriend, always worried that she doesn’t measure up to Sawyer. She squashes out the urges she has to have fun, go wild, and have some heat with her boyfriend. If she shows some of these urges, Sawyer does his best to squelch those tendencies.

Beau on the other hand is as wild as he ever has been. He’s the son of the “wild” Vincent brother, who died years ago. Sure he’s on the football team, same as Sawyer, but he doesn’t care what people think, and doesn’t put up pretenses. Beau and Ash hardly say two words to each other anymore. However, when Sawyer goes on vacation with his family for the summer, Ash and Beau start hanging out all the time. Let the sexual tension begin, and OH, MY GOODNESS, prepare yourself for shirtless Beau!!

You wonder how this is all going to play out, because Ash is the girlfriend of Beau’s cousin and best friend.

But it works out as best as it can.

Apart from when Sawyer comes back and becomes the ultimate JERK, and it quite frankly puts me off him when he gets his own story in The Vincent Brothers.

So, I know he gets his heart broken because Ash chooses Beau (Umm who wouldn’t???) but the way he acts to her at school and the way he lets her get bullied, while he acts like the golden boy he is, annoyed me. Seriously dude!

And to be honest Beau didn’t know the real Ash. He tried to change her into this goody goody girl, one who he is proud to wear on his arm. He doesn’t let her speak out, doesn’t argue, practically has her as a Stepford Wife! but Beau… Beau brings out the real her and she likes it. Yes he’s the bad boy but he’s not all that bad.

And the secret that comes out… OOOOOOOOOOOO! haha.

Beau has to go away and deal with his stuff but he leaves Ash being bullied and beat up and when he finds out… Well… Lets just say he should have given Sawyer more than concussion!

I loved how the book split between the POV of both Ash and Beau because I liked how you got to see just how much they loved each other, how guilty they felt over what they were doing and how they felt when they were getting down and dirty haha (The tree scene… From Beau’s POV… Just don’t… It was… GOD I LOVE HIM!)

I do love this book. Mainly because of Beau (HOT HOT HOT) but because Abbi shows you that a guy/girl must love you for who you are, not who they want you to be.

So the second book The Vincent Brothers

the vincent brothers

Getting a boy to fall head-over-heels in love with you isn’t easy. Especially when he’s been in love with your cousin for as long as you can remember.

Lana has lived her life in her cousin’s shadow. Ashton always made perfect grades, had tons of friends, and looks model-perfect. And she’s always had Sawyer Vincent—the only boy Lana’s ever wanted—wrapped around her finger. But now things are different. Lana has a chance to make Sawyer see her, and she’s taking it. If only he’d get over Ashton—because Lana is sick of second-best.

Sawyer’s heart is broken. He’s lost his best girl to his best friend. And then Lana comes to town. Ashton’s cousin has always been sweet and soft-spoken, but now she’s drop-dead gorgeous as well. Sawyer doesn’t know if Lana can heal his broken heart, but spending time with her might at least make Ashton jealous.

What starts as a carefree fling becomes a lusty game of seduction. Sawyer and Lana may have different motives, but their scintillating hookups are the same kind of steamy. . .

Oh Sawyer…

I still couldn’t like you much in this one.

You were still an idiot.

So in this one its split between Lana, whose Ash’s cousin and Sawyer.

Sawyer is still nursing a wounded heart over Ash and is still convinced that she’ll realise what a mistake she’s made and come crawling back to him (Cloud deluded… she has BEAU!) Despite the fact that Beau and Ash are majorly in love with each other. Everyone else can see it but Sawyer.

Enter Lana. She’s coming over for the rest of the summer before college, seeing as her parents are going through a divorce and are driving her insane. But she also has an alterior motive; to get Sawyer Vincent.

Lana thinks the sun shines out of Sawyer’s ass and has been in love with him since they were kids. She thinks Ash made a mistake choosing Beau and that Sawyer is the perfect Vincent boy.

So when she turns up all sexy and leggy, Sawyer practically realises he has a… you know (haha penis!) despite the fact that he was in a realtionship with Ash for three years he only kissed her despite the fact she was his forever. Yet when Lana comes along… BAM! haha

But the dude is a major user of Lana. He leaves her hot and cold, is still determined that Ash is going to come back to him and makes sure that nothing but a summer fling is going to happen between them.

But Lana wants more from him and when she does go out on a “date” with one of his mates Sawyer goes all caveman (which was good to see actually… proves he isn’t the well mannered boy everyone thinks he is)

Finally, finally, Sawyer realises that he’s fallen for Lana but, after a misunderstanding, she thinks he’s gone back to Ash and has left. That’s when he realises what an idiot he’s been and goes after her… FINALLY!

The epilogues though… OH MY GOD! Not neccessarily Sawyer and Lana’s (but it was sweet) more like ASH AND BEAU’S! (Can you turn that into a mini novella please????)

So I did like this book, not as much as the first one, but I did like it.

The redeeming part was when Sawyer grew up and became a man and stopped being the goody goody ‘the sun shines out his ass’ type boy. He realised what he wanted and he made damn sure everyone else knew.

And Lana… I did like her too but she forgave Sawyer too quickly for his doucheness… but it worked out in the end I suppose!

Overall The Vincent Boys is my favourite. Beau will forever be in my heart.

And Sawyer? He’s sort of their, just not quite yet haha

Take A Chance by Abbi Glines book review

Another Rosemary Beach book… This time its about Grant!

When Harlow Manning’s rocker father goes on tour, he sends her to Rosemary Beach, Florida, to live with her half-sister, Nan. The problem: Nan despises her. Harlow has to keep her head down if she wants to get through the next nine months, which seems easy enough. Until gorgeous Grant Carter walks out of Nan’s room in nothing but his boxer briefs.

Grant made a huge mistake getting involved with a girl with venom in her veins. He’d known about Nan’s reputation, but still he couldn’t resist her. Nothing makes him regret the fling more than meeting Harlow, who sends his pulse racing. Yet Harlow wants nothing to do with a guy who could fall for her wicked half-sister even if there are no strings between Grant and Nan. Grant is desperate to redeem himself in Harlow’s eyes, but did he ruin his chances before he even met her?

Grant is one of the famous Rosemary Beach’s favorite playboys. He’ll never settle down. He’s realationship with Nan makes things even worse, cause even if he wanted to settle down no one would want to end up with him after his past with Nan. Grant thinks he’s done with Nan but for how long?!

Meet Harlow Manning. Harlow is so sweet, loving, caring but she’s off limits. For Grant, Harlow is very dangerous, even more than Nan, because she makes him want more, when he never did. And that is something that Grant isn’t ready to deal with, yet.

Harlow’s unfortunate enough to be Nan’s half sister. Harlow was always loved and shelterd but that doesn’t mae her stupid. She knows that in order to survive living with Nan she has to stay away. But how can she when their father, Kiro, who’s on tour wants Harlow to stay in the house at Rosemary, exactly where Nan is. Harlow isn’t the biggest fan of Nan and even comes to hate her when she witnesses Grant walking through Nan’s bedroom one morning. Everything she ever felt for him is wiped away in that moment. How can she be with a man that always runs back to Nan?

Grant wants to gain Harlow’s trust once again but he knows that it’s not going to be easy. But even if Harlow fogives him will they ever be able to survive behind all these lies and secrets?

Seriouslydid she have to be in this book?

She manages to screw things up… AGAIN!

I hate her… Stop putting her in these stories haha

On another note…

Take a chance is a totally a good title for this book. Because honestly for Grant that’s really all there is; one more chance. Harlow is taking a huge risk with him, a risk I’m not sure he’s worhy of, but still it’s her choice.

Harlow did fall for Grant after the first night they spent together but Grant didn’t manage to keep her trust.

He screws things up.

A bit like Rush really, especially seeing as the screw ups all centre around Nan. UGH.

But then again, Harlow isn’t as innocent in this either. She is hiding a big secret from Grant, which she should have told him instead of hearing about it on the news.

They both mess up this relationship really. But despite the mess ups, you can see things in Grant that are changing. He’s the playboy, a bit like Rush was before he met Blaire and his biggest hook up is Nan. Which Harlow can’t get over, because why would someone like Grant go for her when he’s had Nan?

Grant does manage to win her trust back and I do love how Harlow becomes a raving sex maniac! Especially the scene in the car. God Harlow haha.

I did love Grant, but I really did not understand the way he was with Nan. But what this book did was it really helped me see her through his eyes and get to at least see why he had been with her.

“Mine had been the arms she’d run into, and like a fool I had opened them up for her. Now, all I had was a lot of damn drama and a slightly damaged heart. She hadn’t claimed it. Not completely. But she had touched a place no one else had. She had needed me. No one had ever needed me…. As sick as it was, I had wanted to be her hero.”

Still don’t like Nan though.
Harlow’s initial reaction to him though was  kind of that she didn’t want much to do with a guy who could be involved with someone as horrid as Nan. And I have to say, I totally saw where she was coming from which sucked for him because, despite how hard he kept trying to fight it, he was falling for her.

I kinda went back and forth on my feelings though because I could both understand Grant’s fears and see what was preventing him from putting his heart out on the line even as I simultaneously just wanted to slap him upside the head and tell him to get his shit in order before he lost his chance with Harlow for good.

What I loved about Harlow was that while she may have been a little shy and generally preferred to keep to herself, she was not a pushover. She saw right through Grant from the first time she met him and was not going to be on the receiving end of any of his issues. She also had no problem calling Nan out on her shit either. And I just kinda loved her for it.

And Kiro! Oh my god his story too. Genuine sob fest. He’s known as being as sex crazed rocker but when you learn his story and see him through Harlow’s eyes when you do… Oh My God. Kiro. He’s just like everyone else. He hurts. He has feelings. Despite him coming across as he don’t.

Oh and we saw the regualr characters of Della, Woods, Blaire and Rush 🙂 And the baby Nate. Oh god he is so damn cute. And Rush with him… TOO MUCH!

The book ended on a goddamned cliffhanger AGAIN!

I need the second chance book now becasue I really really hope that Grant can overcome his douche bag ness and man up and tell Harlow how he feels.

Although I have a feeling Nan will be in the second book and I am seriosuly going to HURT HER IF SHE RUINS THINGS BETWEEN THEM AGAIN!

I need the second book now.

As in right now.

Right this second.
