Book Reviews

The Iron Traitor by Julie Kagawa

I can’t believe I’ve neglected it for so long! I have so many books to review but seeing as one of them is a trilogy I can do that all in one haha.

So first book on my list is…

In the real world, when you vanish into thin air for a week, people tend to notice.

After his unexpected journey into the lands of the fey, Ethan Chase just wants to get back to normal. Well, as “normal” as you can be when you see faeries every day of your life. Suddenly the former loner with the bad reputation has someone to try for-his girlfriend, Kenzie. Never mind that he’s forbidden to see her again.

But when your name is Ethan Chase and your sister is one of the most powerful faeries in the Nevernever, “normal” simply isn’t to be. For Ethan’s nephew, Keirran, is missing, and may be on the verge of doing something unthinkable in the name of saving his own love. Something that will fracture the human and faery worlds forever, and give rise to the dangerous fey known as the Forgotten. As Ethan’s and Keirran’s fates entwine and Keirran slips further into darkness, Ethan’s next choice may decide the fate of them all

*breathes deeply*

After The Lost Prince we were back to Nevernever once again.
Only this time he has Kenzie to take care off and now thwat he knows of her condition it isn’t an easy task as he is constantly worried about her.
And also to add to his worries; Keirran is missing.
Annwyl manages to find Ethan, and of course being family Ethan must help her find him. Not only thast but Ethan has come to like Keirran as a friend.

So once more Ethan travels back to the Nevernver but this time its more dangerous than before…

Annwyl is fading away and Keirran is determined to find her a cure, even if that means risking his own life to save her.

So Ethan, Kenzie and Annwyl eventually track him down at the Goblin Market. Ethan manages to talk Keirran taking the ‘antidote’ by telling him there is another way for him to save Annwyl.

Keirran agrees to give Ethan’s plan a go and they end up at Guru’s house in which he does a black magic spell in order to bind Keirran and Annwyl’s life together… but it’s only temporary. Keirran must go back to the Summer Court to ask Queen Titiana to lift Annwyl’s banishment.

But she has her own demands…

And its one that could kill them…

But they take it and risk death in the process… Although they are saved by known other than Puck and daddy himself, Ash (swoon).

But that’s not the end of their troubles…

Because the prophecy that Meghan, Ash and Puck learnt about all those years ago is coming to pass…

OH MY GOD!!!!!!!

I mean you killed me in the Iron Fey books with Meghan Ash and Puck but this… THIS!!

I can’t even…

I need the enxt book now! I DON’T WANT TO WAIT (feel free to send it to me though as soon as its been published though *hint hint* haha)

So i suppose I better talk about it some more instead of just one line repeated over and over haha.

So it wasn’t just Annwyl fading away that got my feels all messed up… It was also Kenzie.

Kenzie is this strong, beautiful, feisty girl despite her illness and she never fails to Ethan in his place and call him out on his crap. She still retained all of that in this book but there were times when you could see she was struggling, that the illness was weighing her down and there were some really really sweet and beautiful moments between her and Ethan that just made your heart melt.

And as for Annwyl and Keirran… They love each other too and the fact that Annwyl is fading is killing Keirran so he is going to literally do anything to stop that from happening. You see moments of vulnerablity in him and it makes him more lovable…

Until that moment…

That moment when he turns and does what he does and you just want to KICK HIM IN THE ASS AND PUNCH HIM!!

But I suppose you do see the darkness slowly creeping in. And well he has to be a bit messed up becasue he has Summer, Winter and Iron power… so really that will mess anyone up… but still NO EXCUSE!

The ending though… It killed me. I was a brillaint ending and totally gave a whole new meaning to ‘CLIFFHANGER ENDING’

The book ahd dark and light moments aswell as moments of love. Even though Meghan and Ash didn’t feature as much in this one together, you can so totally tell that they are still deeply in love with each other… and Puck! PUCK! Damn that prankster… Just when you think you love Ash along comes Puck to mess up that plan! Although I am an Ash girl, Puck still makes my heart skip a beat… merge them together and you have one hell of a man haha.

5 out of 5 for this book. I loved it.

I need the next one now though…

like right now…

this instant..
