Blurb:

Los Angeles, California, Republic of America

He is Day, the boy who walks in the light.

She is June, the girl who seeks her brother’s killer.

On the run and undercover, they meet by chance.

Irresistibly drawn together, neither knows the other’s past.

But Day murdered June’s brother.

And she has sworn to avenge his death…

I mean WOW! This book was so hard to put down.

It’s split between the POV’s of both June and Day so we get to see both sides of the main characters.

It starts with Day… the boy on the run who has terrorized the republic and is on their most wanted list. And then his family get the plague and he plans to raid the hospital for the cure. Except things go wrong… Day is nearly captured and in self defence he throws his knife at a soldier, who ends up dead…

June is the prodigy of the Republic. A perfect score in the trials (1500/1500) she’s the next best thing. Then she finds out her brother has died and that the wanted criminal Day was responsible for his death. So she plans to track him down and bring him to justice. But what she doesn’t count on is falling in love with Day…

It follows them as June is undercover for the Republic to get Day out of hiding. They don’t plan on falling for each other however and June is torn between handing him over to the Republic or letting him go.

He is however captured by the Republic, his family are also captured and something tragic happens.

While in prison, Day is tortured and his execution date is set. June however un covers some truth of her own regarding her brothers death and things to do with the Republic, so she plans to get Day out of prison…

This whole book had me hooked from the beginning. I loved the different POV’s of the characters as we got to see the two different personalities of the main characters and we could fall in love with the pair of them at the same time.
I liked both characters. Day is not the criminal you expect, he’s kind and sweet and yes he has to be cruel sometimes but he would never kill anyone.
And June. She’s the child prodigy and is good at everything she does. But while with Day, we see a different side of her. The one who is vulnerable and doesn’t know what to do at times. But she grows and I like that we take that journey with her.

And I loved the relationship between the two of them. How they are first skeptical of each other and how they slowly start to trust each other. They fall hard and quick and I like how you get to see each character from the others POV. Even when June is convinced that Day killed her brother there are still little bits that you see in them that still thinks: “I should hate you but I can’t. You have beautiful eyes etc”

I can’t wait to dig into the second book and see what happens to both characters now.

A definite 5 out of 5 stars and a total must read!
