Books to Movie 3!

Here’s the third one!
This one is all about..

Divergent is the debut novel of American author Veronica Roth and its the first installment of the epic trilogy. (Divergent, Insurgent and Allegiant- which is out in Oct 2013)

Its a dystopian novel based in a future Chicago.

What’s the book about?

The book is about citizens who love in a society that is divided into five factions. Each one is meant to uphold a particular version of humanity.
Abnegation- Selfless
Amity- Peaceful
Candor- Honest
Dauntless- Brave
Erudite- Intelligent

On a given day every 16 year old takes an aptitude test to decide which faction they belong to. Most get the result they want but others like Beatrice Prior doesn’t fit into any faction… she is Divergent.

Beatrice ‘Tris’ Prior is 16. Living in the faction Abnegation with her parents and brother Caleb, she realises that Abnegation’s selfless nature doesn’t come easy to her like it does her brother. Beatrice feels lonely and constricted. Like she doesn’t belong there. Then comes choosing day, when you must decide which faction you want to belong in. Whether you want to stay in the one you were brought up in or transfer to another faction. Beatrice chooses Dauntless and begins her new life with the brave and adrenaline filled members. She chooses her new name to begin her new life with: Tris.
Her brother Caleb chooses Erudite.
While in Dauntless Tris has to go through a series of initiations before she can fully become a Dauntless member. She makes new friends in the form of Christiana, Al and Will.
While there she starts to get closer to her Dauntless instructor Tobias ‘Four’ Eaton. As the story gets on there relationship turns physical.
Of course everything doesn’t go smoothly, especially when they uncover a plot to destroy Abnegation…
Tris makes enemies along the way including Dauntless initiate Peter and leader of the Erudite Jeanine Matthews. Tris learns alot about herself and her true nature. She grows up alot in the book and lives up to Dauntless’ virtue of humanity; Brave

       Four and Tris (movie still)

Why I’m excited for this movie:

Because the book is so goddamn awesome! Seriously. The first dystopian book I read was The Hunger Games and I got a feel for it. I read alot of books that have a lot of ranges but dystopian is good to read when you want a little break from the supernatural.
Divergent is different from the Hunger Games and I know alot of people are going to compare the two. The Hunger Games is about killing and staying alive to win the annual hunger games whereas Divergent is about living in factions. Where you don’t interact with others unless you have too, where you live your life set by faction and where you have to do right by others. (Abnegations are selfless so if it means they go hungry so someone else can have food they’ll do it)
I do love Vampire and Supernatural movies but Dystopian is taking over. I love that and I love how its Veronica Roth’s debut novel and its already becoming a movie. Again the actors are very good choices and again I only know a few of them that are starring in it. This is what makes movies brilliant. Little and unknown actors/actresses being given a chance to become Hollywood names.

If you haven’t read the first two books I totally suggest you do. They are hard to put down and if you don’t fall in love with Four then something’s wrong with you! Haha

Seriously its amazing and I cannot wait until next year to see it on the big screen. Its going to be the new Hunger Games!
